Having an “unruly body” is hard, especially when an eating disorder requires a severe amount of control of the body.
What does it mean to be a third world woman? Sometimes I feel like I can’t speak because I’m so overwhelmed by everything surrounding me. Sometimes I scream and it feels like lava is coating my throat and I am burning from the inside out. But most of the time, I am too exhausted from the constant fighting to keep pushing, keep struggling. Unfortunately, there is no other option. You can commend me and other marginalised women for our bravery and fight, but let’s acknowledge that there is no other option. I appreciate your support and thoughtful commentary, but not fighting, not being brave is not an option. The only option I’ve ever had was resistance. Continue reading
